He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan R. Day and Gertrude Boche Day; his sister Linda Martinez; and his father-in-law Tom Korte. He is survived by: his wife Evie Day of Muscatine; his children, Chris Day, Carrie Gerdts (Chris) of Muscatine, Joe Hirt (Rosie) of Muscatine and Jenny Luu (Sang) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his grandchildren, Derek Hirt (Maddie), Lexi Hirt, Luke Luu, Madisyn Gerdts, Maison Gerdts, Makynzie Gerdts, Cambal Luu, Rhys Luu and Mikael Gerdts; his great grandchild Jaxon Hirt; his siblings, Ivan L. Day (Donna) of Davenport and Renate Day of Muscatine; his sister-in-law Linda McDonald (Robert); and his mother-in-law Jean Korte (Jerry Angers). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Sons of the American Legion, in Fred's honor.
