Barbara Jean Schmelzer Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Schmelzer (Muscatine, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 5, 2024 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George H. Ricketts and Gretchen L. Bauer Ricketts; her husband Gary; her sons, Gary W. Schmelzer and Wesley P. Schmelzer; her granddaughter Melanie J. Eagle; and her great grandchild Laraine Ash.
She is survived by: her children, James J. Schmelzer (Dawn) of Porum, Kurt Schmelzer (Cindy) of Corning, Eric Schmelzer (Peggy) of Illinois, Anna Schmelzer of Wilton, Cynthia Eagle (Bob) of Muscatine, Vicki Carter (Ken) of Wapello and Jeana Howland (Jamie) of Muscatine; her siblings, Rose Ann Arnold (Alfred) of Evansville and James Ricketts (Ann) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her daughter-in-law Rayann Schmelzer; and her sister-in-law Tibe Vander Linden (Doug). She is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and two on the way; 1 great-great-grandson.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church (2107 Cedar St, Muscatine, IA 52761). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at the Greenwood Cemetery.
