He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldo Degen and Alva Degen (Struckenbruck); his former wives, Wilma Liston and LaVonne Degen; his son-in-law Jeff Marienau; and his siblings, LaVonne Becker, Norma Heuer and Wilber Degen.
He is survived by: his wife Pert Powell of Moville, IA; and his children, Donna Summers (Terry), Barb Marienau, Mark Degen (Julie), Todd Degen (Linda), Gayle Ann Roepke (Rob), Karen Lloyd (Kevin) and Kathy Crawford (Mike). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight bonus grandchildren; 27. 5 great-grandchildren and 16. 5 bonus great-grandchildren.
