He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bowers and Pearl Bowers (Matthews); his parents-in-law, Jake, Marcella, Dennis, Richard, Gary and Debra; and his pet Tank.

He is survived by: his wife Myrtle Jean; his children, Bill Bowers Jr. (Becky) of Mount Vernon, IA, Kristin Bowers (Kenneth) of Austin, TX and Michael Bowers (Phillip) of Albany, CA; his grandchildren, Frederick Jr., Alexandria, Lisa and Carrie; his great grandchildren, Cydney and Cammie; and his siblings-in-law, Steven (Mary), Douglas (Theresa), Kenneth (Jody), Merle (Sheryl), Marcia (Danny), Donita (John), Denise (Warren), Jeff (Julie), Keith (Jo Ann) and Donna (Gary). He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made in Bill's name to the Lisbon and Mount Vernon Ambulance and/or the Mount Vernon Community School Foundation.
