He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Dorothy and Nellie Dorothy (Conner); and his wife Carolyn J. Dorothy. He is survived by: his stepmother Edna; his children, Joy Messer (Brian) of Fairfield and R. V. Dorothy (Debra Bislip) of Yuma; his siblings, Barbara Cox, Dale and Gale Dorothy; his grandchildren, Jason (Tasha), Jodi, Chad (Stacy) and Shelby; his sister-in-law Janet Smith of Birmingham; his sisters, Mildrend Ingalls, Esther Alexander and Mary Dodd; his brother-in-law Robert Smith; and also Danny Cary.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 22nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kimzey Funeral Home (213 N Main St, Mt Pleasant, IA 52641). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church (803 E Maple Leaf Dr, Mt Pleasant, IA 52641).
A memorial has been established in Vern's name for a decision to be made at a later date.
