Jerry L. Smith Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry L. Smith (Mount Pleasant, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 5, 2024 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Smith and Hazel Smith (Gholson); and his son Scott Smith. He is survived by: his wife Sue Miller; his sons, Jason Smith (Debbie) of Mt. Pleasant and Doug Smith (Diana) of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren, Kelsey DeWitt (Eli), Kirsten Johnson (Tucker), Kenna Bodenham (Aaron), Emma Smith and Abby Smith; his great grandchildren, Trice and Blakely DeWitt; his stepchildren, Jason Miller (Rebecca) of Brookeland and Jesse Miller (Tara) of Ankeny; his stepgrandchildren, Jacob Miller, Nathan Miller, Paige Miller, Zachary Root, Jacob Root and Joshua Root; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Lexi and Lawrence Root.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 24th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home (408 N Broadway St, Mt Pleasant, IA 52641). A graveside service was held on Monday, November 25th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Green Mound Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Green Mound Cemetery Association or towards a tree to be planted in Trenton Park in his memory.
