She was predeceased by: her parents, John Ee and Gertrude M. Van Ee (Van Willigen); her husband Robert G. "Red" Shaffer; her son Robert G. Shaffer II; and her siblings, John Van Ee, Bernice Van Ee, Harriette Engle and Arlene Van Ee.

She is survived by: her niece Pam Morrison (Doug) of Alameda, CA; her daughter-in-law Fae Erickson Ramsey of Des Moines, IA; her close friend Carolyn Prottsman (Dennis) of Mt. Pleasant, IA.; and her stepgrandchildren, Genevieve Hays (Brandon) and John Ramsey.
