It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vergene Smith- Higgins of Mount Ayr, Iowa, who passed away on January 24, 2021, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Wardrip and Mae Wardrip (Marsh); her husbands, Carroll Holden Smith and Buck; her sisters, Viola Deibert, Vera Hartschen and Vesta Shaha; and her brothers-in-law, Arthur Deibert and Rex Shaha.
She is survived by: her daughter Kayla La Rea (Gary) of Post Falls, Idaho; her former husband Frank Edwin Higgins; her daughter Karolyn Herren (Kenneth) of Beaver Dam; and her grandchildren, Kelly Herren Kreuziger (John), Krista Herren Donahue, Scott Main (Julie) and Greg Main (Ming). She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
