He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Richards and Elizabeth Richards (Moore); his siblings, Marion Skinner (Charles), Bonnie Pratt (Bob), Robert Richards (Marilyn), Jane Hutt (Floy), Allen Richards (Lila), Bill Richards and Connie Jacobson; and his brothers-in-law, Raymond Sickels and Ralph Sheddrick.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Rinehart; his children, Kathy Cole (Steve) of Polk City and Kelly Richards (Shirley) of Ankeny, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kelsie Schankel (Story), Shelby Ravens (Ryan), Lydia Wacker (Jason) and Devin Richards (Casi); his great grandchildren, Rylan Ravens, Sawyer Schankel, Khloe Schankel, Emerleigh Wacker, Steele Schankel, Silas Ravens and Hudson Wacker; his sisters, Ann Sickels (Bill) and Sue Sickels; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Jacobson, Jean Richards and Fern Sheddrick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
