He was predeceased by: his parents, Orie D. Mercer and Bessie Mercer (Curry); his siblings, Edna, Cecil, Elgin, Edwin, Nellie and Marion; his wife Norma Rice of Mount Ayr; his daughter LeAnn Mercer; and his granddaughter Katie Leffler.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Leffler (Daryl) of Urbandale, IA; his grandchildren, David Leffler (April) of Urbandale, IA, Kevin Leffler (Jen) of Manning, IA, Cori Leffler of Urbandale, IA and Lizzy Garcia of El Paso, TX; and his great grandchildren, Violet, Evelyn Leffler of Urbandale, IA, Ada, Greta, August, Nora Leffler of Manning, IA and Arianna Garcia of El Paso, TX. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
