He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ballenger and Inez Ballenger (Paetz); his son Joel Ballenger; and his siblings, Darryl Ballenger, Katherine Ball and Fran Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Johnson; his children, Robin Schlueter of Moscow and Jay Ballenger (Karen) of Tipton, Iowa; his grandchildren, Dr. Brooke Fields (Mitch), Kim Yerington (Nick) and Dr. Greg Ballenger; and his siblings-in-law, Darlene Ballenger and Michael Carter. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Wilton Archives LTD for use in helping to build The Heritage Center Museum and Archives in Wilton.
