He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Samuelson and Bonnie Samuelson (Harper); and his siblings, Victor Samuelson, Dennis Samuelson, Darlene Meck and Emma Jean Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth Eakes of Iowa City; his children, Jennifer Buysse (Rodney Cole), Jody Ellis (Scott), Jim Samuelson and Susan Tyler (Larry); his grandchildren, Brad Tyler, Amanda Conklin, Elyse, Elexa Buysse, Benjamin and Jacob Ellis; his great grandchildren, Brady, MaKenna Tyler, Declan and Riddik Conklin; and his siblings, Vera Smith, Art Samuelson, Betty Lett and Keith Samuelson.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Research Hospital.
