He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael C. Gessner and Alma Gessner (Thoman); his brother John; and his brother-in-law Jack Reilly. He is survived by: his wife Louise Kacer; his children, Alan Gessner (Linda) of Newhall, Dale Gessner (Marilyn) of Belle Plaine, Dr. Ann Gessner (Bill Lorenz) of Ames, Carol Gessner of Ft. Collins, CO, Barb Lukan (Randy) of Cedar Rapids and Leo Gessner (Brenda) of Story City; his grandchildren, Christy Barta (Andy), Chase, Caleb, Casey Gessner, Olivia Lorenz, Taylor, Grant Lukan, Courtney and Jaclyn Gessner; his great grandchildren, Matthew, David, Owen and Alex Barta; and his siblings, Eileen Reilly of Central City and Gerald Gessner (Karen) of Newhall. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
