She was predeceased by: her parents, Clem Deppe and Frances Deppe (Weber); her husband Leo Schemmel; her parents-in-law, Ben and Rose Schemmel; her siblings, William Deppe (Rosie), Lawrence Deppe (Helen), Ardella Helle (Don) and Bertha Klas (George); and her siblings-in-law, Pearl Recker (Gerald), Jean Mormann (Walter), Marion Gudenkauf (Vernon), LeRoy and Bernard Schemmel.
She is survived by: her children, Ronald Schemmel (Sue) of Monticello, David Schemmel (Barb) of Cedar Rapids, Joseph Schemmel (Kim) of Cedar Rapids, Patty Hammen (Dave) of Harper and Joyce Hosch (Kurt) of Robins; and her sisters, Hilda Reittinger (Melvin) and Julitta Deppe (Dubuque). She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School.
