He was predeceased by: his siblings, Alice Adams, Warren and Cheryl; and his parents, Vernon "Jack" and Mae Ella Gilchrist.
He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, Christopher Gilchrist (Holly Leddy) of Durham, NC, Daniel Gilchrist (Kristin) of Rockville, MD and Sarah Rockenstein (Andrew) of Berlin; and his grandchildren, Isaac, Elliott Gilchrist, Alice and Hugo Rockenstein.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Church of Monticello, the National Wildlife Foundation, or a charity of choice.
