It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roger Dale Neels of Montezuma, Iowa, born in Sully, Iowa, who passed away on September 30, 2021, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Neels and Margaret Neels (Stouwie); and his brother Willis Neels. He is survived by: his wife Linda Akers-Thompson; his children, Bill Thompson (Kim) of Sioux Falls, Sheryl Freeborn (Todd) of Montezuma and Tony Neels (Nancy) of Altoona; his grandchildren, Kati Bernard (Justin), Dustin Jividen, Krystal Talbert (Adam), Colin Watts (Kiegan), Seth Freeborn (Lexi Kriegel), Melissa Reed (Jimmy) and Christopher Thompson (Abby Weinzetl); his sister Loretta Neels Thomas; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Neels and Dawn Akers Farmer (Chuck); and his friends, Doug, Carrie Barnes and Kim Wiegand. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department or the Blakley-Stevens American Legion Post 169 in Montezuma.
