He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Stephen Cox and Velma Frost Cox; his wife Kathy Escher; his children, Andrew, Kelly Parrish (Steve) of New Sharon, Adam Cox of Des Moines, Stephen Cox of Grinnell and Andy Cox (Jessica) of Iowa City; and his grandchildren, Anna Van Ryswyk, Kasen Van Ryswyk, William Cox, Anderson Cox and Olivia Cox.

“Family of Bill, I was so surprised and sorry to hear of Bill's death. Sixty-eight years is too young to pass away. I hope he had an opportunity to enjoy some time of retirement. I briefly saw Bill in Orient several years ago, but we didn't have a chance to speak other than a quick hello. It was good to see him then. I hope all of you are doing very well.
