She was predeceased by: her parents, Neil John Caldwell and Ruby Caldwell (Goldsberry); her husband James F. Maples; her son Jerry Slater; and her grandchildren, Wendy Sue Slater and Frank John Slater.

She is survived by: her daughter Joanna Sweet; her grandchildren, Jerry Slater (Laurie), Roger Sweet (Trudie), Rick Sweet (Amy) and Lisa Longman (John); her great grandchildren, Amanda Mason, Mindy Mason, Brady Sweet, Abby Sweet and Melissa Sweet; and her daughter-in-law Sue Slater.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Shriner's Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
