He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Koppes and Helen Koppes (Kelchen); his brother Chuck Koppes; and his sister-in-law Lori "Pris". He is survived by: his wife Judy Koppes of Monmouth, IA; his children, Michelle Jennings (Matthew) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Stacey Hines (Michael) of Monticello, IA and Keith Koppes (Samantha) of Monmouth, IA; his grandchildren, Kyler Jennings, Elise Jennings, Noah Hines, Nate Hines, Kelsey, Kole and Klara Koppes; his siblings, Lawrence Koppes of Dyersville, IA, Merlin Koppes of Cascade, IA, Carl Koppes (Donna), Paul Koppes (Sandy), Phyllis Ludwig (Marv) of Cuba City, WI, Donna Schewe (Jim) of Oxford Junction, IA, Marilyn Staskal of Maquoketa, IA and Dennis Koppes (Brenda) of Monmouth, IA; and his sisters-in-law, Judy Betzner (Jim) and Marlene Koppes.
