She was predeceased by: her parents, Dean Schecter and Mildred Schecter (Stanley). She is survived by: her husband Gary Fry; her children, Michael (Laura Laws) and Michelle Rigby (Scott); her grandchildren, Hannah Fry, Ciaran Rigby, Cailin Rigby and Austen Fry; her brother Gene; her sister-in-law Sandy Fry; her sister Judy; her brother-in-law Ed Wegele; her sister Jane; and her brothers-in-law, Gene Elphic and Wayne Baker. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Memorials can be made to the Iowa Lions Foundation, Humeston Public Library, St. Croix Hospice or a cause of the donor's choice in loving memory of Joann.

“So sorry to hear about the passing of Joann. My wife Lorna and I Darwin Meyer of Sheffield send our condolences. The weather is not good up hear in Noeth Iowa. We will wait to see what the road conditions are,at 2:00 pm to see if we can make it down for the visitation. We won't be able to make the funeral as I have a heart doctor appointment at 11:00 am.
