It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Loretta M. Bertelsen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, who passed away on February 27, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Spires and Ellen Spires (Epperson); her husband Don; her brother-in-law Jerry Guinan; her siblings, Robert (Roberta Spires) and Nancy (Gene Dinsmore); and her sons-in-law, Mike Peters, Kurt and Sternberg.
She is survived by: her children, Patti Bertelsen, Peggy (Gary Smiley) of Imogene, IA, Pam (Eugene Gochenour) of Mondamin, IA, David (Diane Bertelsen) of Missouri Valley, IA, Donna Peters of Hurst, TX, Debra, Sternberg of Missouri Valley, IA and Laurie (Mike Cooper) of Primghar, IA; her grandchildren, Travis Smiley (Anne), Dustin Smiley, Brad Smiley (Sarah), Jill Radloff (Ted), Jewel Ansbaugh (Craig), Jolene Caldwell (Josh), Janelle Escalante, Jeena Hall (Wyatt), Jessy Werner (Paul), Doug Bertelsen (Cindy), Dawn Kuster (Nick), Devin Davis (Sean), Andrew Lawver (Melissa), Kaitlin Rogers (Josh), Josh Stone, Jacob Stone (Kathy), Molly Newman (Michael), Liz Wittrock (Brandon), Staci Hicks (Turner), Stefan Cooper and Erin Watt (Matthew); her sister Judy Guinan of Mobile, AL; and her siblings-in-law, Estella Witt of Honey Creek, IA and Calvin Bertelsen of Logan, IA.. She is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Missouri Valley Christian Church, as Loretta's faith was an important part of her life.
