He was predeceased by: his parents, Hans Hemmingsen and Evelyn Hemmingsen (Sandberg); and his sister Beverly. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hemmingsen of Missouri Valley; his children, Cindy Hemmingsen of New York, John Hemmingsen (Christina) of Missouri Valley and Lindsay Whistle (Ron) of Council Bluffs; and his siblings, Mary Thornton of Mexico and Bill Hemmingsen (Gloria) of Anderson. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, one great granddaughter.
