With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Anita Mae (Swanger) Cates of Missouri Valley, Iowa, who passed away on August 18, 2020 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Waldo Swanger and Geneva Swanger (Hickman); her sons, Daniel Cates and Mitchel Cates; and her siblings, Eugene Swanger, Ronald Swanger, Gary Swanger, Marjorie Gillespie, Frances Bernard and Donna Short.

She is survived by: her daughters, Rhonda Kouma (Lenny) of Missouri Valley and Tami Cates (Chad Hopkins) of Missouri Valley; her daughter-in-law Pam Cates of Missouri Valley; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Coty, Shyann, Ashley and Justin; and her sister Karen Holst of Missouri Valley, Iowa.. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews.
