He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Lavine and Gladys Lavine (Valentine); and his brothers, Michael, Patrick and Tim.
He is survived by: his wife Irene Lavine of Minden; his children, Michelle Miller (Gary) of Spencer, Iowa, Travis Lavine (Alison) of Omaha and Kelly Dillard of Spencer, Iowa; his grandchildren, Alex, Samantha, Dallas and McKenzie; his great grandchild Zoey; his stepsons, Gary Lange (Cassie) of Omaha and Steve Lange (Jill) of Neola, Iowa; his stepgrandchildren, Nick (Buffy), Megan (Jeff), Chelsey, Brenden, Carlie, Thommy and Danny; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Brilee, Brooklee, Brynnslee and Lillian; and his brother James Lavine of Prescott, Arizona. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
