With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bernard J. Alfers of Minden, Iowa, born in Neola, Iowa, who passed away on March 31, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman and Florence; his wife Louise Kautzky; his daughter Nancy Madsen; his grandson Christopher Madsen; and his siblings-in-law, Edward, Doris Kautzky, Frank Kautzky, Donald Kautzky, Robert Masker and Donald Fisher.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Alfers (April) of Kansas City, Jane Barnes (Don) of Shelby, IA, Karen Conklin (Robert) of Omaha, Mary Kay Waltz (Tony) of Minden Iowa and Gina Hackett (Mike) of Winterset, Iowa; his significant other Karen Borrink of Council Bluffs; his partner's children, Debbie Pogge (Robert) of Minden and David Borrink of Sioux City, Iowa; and his siblings, Betty Masker, Margaret Fisher and Jack Alfers (Marilyn). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, many other family members and lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Neola, Minden Fire and Rescue, and Disabled American Veterans.
