She was predeceased by: her parents, Gene Schaefer and Reta Schaefer. She is survived by: her brother Jeff Schaefer (Cherry) of Hot Springs; her children, Jay Sprague (Kat) of Okoboji and Jessi Sprague (Jason) of El Paso, Texas; her grandsons, Benjamin, Nicholas and Levi; and her family Team Checker.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers or plants that donations be made to Dickinson County Trail system, Northwest Iowa Humane Society, or Dream Team (Des Moines), a program that uses the power of a bicycle to help youth develop a positive approach to life's challenges.
