He was predeceased by: his parents, Nina Bierstedt and Raymond Bierstedt; his wife Marilyn Elbert of Cecelia's Catholic Church; his children, Dr. Raymond Bierstedt and Donna Hansen; his granddaughter Anne Holtorf-Birt; his children-in-law, Jane Bierstedt and Ron Hansen; and his great grandchild Katelyn Sandbulte.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Holtorf (Roger), Denise Hirneise (Paul) and Rick Bierstedt; his sister Ila Hirsch; and his cousin Terri Sigsbee. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
