He was predeceased by: his parents, Nina Bierstedt and Raymond Bierstedt; his wife Marilyn Elbert of Cecelia's Catholic Church; his children, Dr. Raymond Bierstedt and Donna Hansen; his granddaughter Anne Holtorf-Birt; his children-in-law, Jane Bierstedt and Ron Hansen; and his great grandchild Katelyn Sandbulte.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Holtorf (Roger), Denise Hirneise (Paul) and Rick Bierstedt; his sister Ila Hirsch; and his cousin Terri Sigsbee. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Robinson Funeral Home (2317 32nd St, Spirit Lake, IA 51360). A prayer was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Zion Cemetery (14300 625th St, Fonda, IA 50540).
