He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben R. Gerdes, and Beneta Gerdes, Sr. (Swink); and his sisters, Vickie Buttloph (Dale) of Winterset, IA and Janice Maddy. He is survived by: his former wife Kathleen A. Junkman; his pet Lacey; his wife Kay Gerdes of Milford; his children, Benjamin P. Gerdes, III, Lisa Becker (John) of St. James, MN and Lori Raleigh (Dan) of Cedar Rapids, IA; his grandchildren, Andrew Gerdes of Cedar Falls, IA, Elsie Gerdes of Cedar Falls, IA, Zoie Becker of St. James, MN, Ellie Becker of St. James, MN, Cami Burns (Becker) of Sioux Falls, SD and Katie Sherck (Becker) of Independence, MN; and his brother Larry Gerdes (Pat) of McClelland, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ben's name and the family will donate the funds to Ben's favorite charities.
