It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lois M. Alquist of Meriden, Iowa, who passed away on January 3, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Orney Hemmah and Florence Hemmah (Kirkewold) of Hettinger; her parents-in-law, Leo and Pearl Alquist; her brothers, Burnell Hemmah and Leo Jr.; and her sister-in-law Linda Alquist.
She is survived by: her husband Dennis of Meriden; her children, Denise Pettey (Scott) of Rochester, MN and Derrick Alquist (Christy) of Meriden; her grandchildren, Tyler Alquist and Lindsey Alquist; her siblings, Otto Hemmah (Ann Marie) of Byron, MN and Sylvia Michalak (Greg) of Rochester, MN; and her nieces and nephews, Julie Perrotti of Byron, MN, Karen Young (Mike) of Mankato, MN, Amber Gilbertson (John) of Wabasha, MN, Julie Berg (Mark) of Lino Lakes, MN, Desi Hicks of Mountain Home, AR, Paul Hemmah of Byron, MN, Bradley Hemmah of Byron, MN, Michael Michalak of Rochester, MN and Jerry Alquist (Lisa Claus) of Lennox, SD..
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (300 E Bow Dr, Cherokee, IA 51012).
