It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Charles O'Brien of Menlo, Iowa, who passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald O'Brien and Juanita O'Brien of Menlo; his grandparents, Pete and Doris Fleming; his parents-in-law, Willis and Velma Grasty; and his siblings-in-law, Katie Bolin, Carol and Duane Edwards.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Jean Skellenger; his children, Kelly Nelson (Dale) of Greenfield, Michael Edwards (Danielle), Trevor Nelson (Heather), Devon Nelson (Emmy Godfrey) and Brenda Murphy (Vincent) of Greenfield; his grandchildren, Corbin Bond (McKynli Newbury), Corinne Bond and Cohen Bond; his sons, Brian Skellenger (Jeanne Butcher) and Bret Skellenger (Andrea) of Fontanelle; his grandchildren, Dylan Skellenger (Dani), BreAnn Kloberdanz (Troy) and Karsi Skellenger; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Able, Asher, Alexis and Jaxon; his sisters, Dixie Tallman (Bill) of Houston and Michelle Coe (Kevin) of Stuart; his aunt Charlotte Frisbie of Greenfield; and his siblings-in-law, Vernie Grasty (Keryl) of Menlo, Everett Grasty (Carla) of Stuart and Paula Frank (Pam VanScoy) of Adel. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Family Funeral Home - Stuart (123 NE 2nd St, Stuart, IA 50250). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
