He was predeceased by: his parents, Herb Cort and Grace Breton Cort; and his sister Pauline Kay Schurman. He is survived by: his wife Linda Cort; his children, Jennifer Jacobs (Darren Stanley), Steven Cort (Susan) and Kelley DeHeer (Brooks); his grandchildren, Haley Pinegar (Kyle), Derek Seddon (Brooke), Shelby Simmons, Eli Cort, Grace DeHeer, Sophia DeHeer and Cecelia DeHeer; his great grandchildren, Ivan Pinegar and Forrest Pinegar; and his siblings, Dorothy Holland (Don), Barbara Cort, John Cort, Elaine Wilson (Tim) and Jerry Cort. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue in honor of Jack.
