He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Gerling and Elaine Gerling (Cling); and his sisters, Rose Tisor and Mary Martinaeu. He is survived by: his siblings, Ruth Gerling of Mediapolis and Joe Gerling (Patti) of Ankeny. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
