He is survived by: his former wife Sandra Helen Smiggen; his wife Sandy Murray-John of Maynard; his sons, Michael Murray-John (Debbie) of Minneapolis and Patrick Murray-John of Boston, Massachusetts; his granddaughter Lola Murray-John of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and his sister Anna Cook (Rob) of Metung.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Gordon's name to Fayette County Master Gardeners or Fayette County Fairgrounds, Floral Hall.
