She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Wichers and Geneva Wichers (Vander Weide). She is survived by: her husband Perry Allen Dykstra; her children, Shawn Smith (Layne), Jason Esparza-Dykstra (Geron), Rachel Stroh (Nick), Jeremy Dykstra (Danielle), Tiffany Hartman (Luke) and Alisha Dykstra; her grandchildren, Amy Larson (Tyler), Carly Smith, Tayton, Zayden, Jayaunna, Bryton Stroh, Kasiah, Dyson, Adalie Dykstra, Chayce, Tyson and Alerie Hartman; her great grandchild Kennedy Larson; her siblings, Barb Lucht, Roger Wichers, Pam Stienstra, Teresa Kurth, Gary Wichers, Marji Wichers, Patty Wichers, Daniel Wichers and Russell Wichers Jr.; and her sister-in-law Marvella. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Valerie requested memorials go to help support her grandchildren's future missions trips.
