She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Westphalen and Erma Westphalen (Petersen); her sister Marilyn Hansen; and her nephew Joel Hansen. She is survived by: her husband Duane Ortgies; her son Tony (Karolyn); her daughter-in-law Sally Ortgies; her granddaughter Clara Ortgies (Matthew Schmitz) of Urbandale; her siblings-in-law, Charles Hansen of Atlantic and Ardith Ortgies of Des Moines; and her nephews, Derek Hansen and Tom Hansen.
Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to the family or be directed in Karolyn's name to the Alzheimer's Association. Karolyn Lo Ortgies peacefully passed, Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Exira Care Center after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
