He was predeceased by: his father Varel Schmidt; and his brother Larry Jay Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Julie Schmidt of Massena; his children, Samantha Jenkins (Will) of Massena, Tucker Schmidt (Brittni) of Wiota, Sidney Schmidt (Krista) of Massena and Toby Schmidt (Cammey Klindt) of Massena; and his grandchildren, Cash, Lux, Declan, Kacie and Kyzer.

Memorials may be directed to the Doug Schmidt Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
