He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Cleve and Geraldine Van Cleve; his son-in-law Gary Kloewer; his brother Lon Van Cleve; his mother-in-law Edith Cruse; and his brother-in-law Vern Nelsen.
He is survived by: his significant other Nancy of Hanlontown; his children, Amy Christiansen (Martha) of Ames, T. J., Katie Van Cleve of Iowa City and Adam Van Cleve of Hanlontown; and his sister Paula Powell (Scott) of Globe. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
