He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Askeland and Ovedia Askeland (Peterson); his siblings, Orin Askeland and Clarine Uhirg; and his significant other's son Mark Bryant.
He is survived by: his significant other Ruth Bryant; his children, Carol Sullivan (Pat), Ralph Jr. Askeland (Hilda), Connie Menuey (Steve), Carmen Jepsen, Duane Askeland (Cindy), Bradley Askeland and Kimberly Askeland; his significant other's children, Dianne Bryant and Steve Bryant; and his sister Diane Larson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren.
