It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kay A. Backhaus of Mason City, Iowa, who passed away on June 2, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, E. A. Pete and Ann Oehlert (Wearda); and her husband David McCoid. She is survived by: her children, Kim Sime (Mark) and Mike McCoid (Nancy); her stepchildren, Rick Backhaus (Jennifer), Darci Kellar, Brett Backhaus (Jackie) and Nicole McDonough (Jay); her sister-in-law Kathleen Springthorpe; her grandchildren, Matt, Ben (Carmody), Jon Sime (Lauren), Danielle Corcoran (Jeremy), Jessica (Dustin) and Nicole McCoid (Alex); and her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lily, Alice, Arthur, Mabel, Logan, Liam and Livia.
