He was predeceased by: his mother Alice Scharlau (Ashford); his wife Tina Scharlau (Bitker); and his brother-in-law Mark Staley. He is survived by: his father Lynn Scharlau; his sons, Brian Scharlau (JoAnn), Brent Scharlau and Brandon Scharlau; his grandchildren, Jacob Scharlau and Freya Scharlau; and his sister Kay Staley. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, other extended family, and many friends.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, September 11th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Moose Lodge (22 4th St NW, Mason City, IA 50401).
