He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Fransen and Beverly Murphy (Lamb); his stepfather Loren Murphy; his granddaughter Kaitlyn Ann; his siblings, Linda Westendorf and James Fransen; his nephews, Timothy Smith Sr. and Cody Fransen; and his niece Christy Fransen.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Smith; his children, Nichole McLain and Justin Smith; his granddaughters, Brianna, Stephanie and Kaylee; his siblings, Diana Hampton, Loree Murphy, Lisa Schaer and Mike Fransen; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Lybarger (Lee), Carolyn Pedelty (Marty), Marilyn Sporing (Chuck), David Smith (Julie) and Larry Smith (Barb).
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel (126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA 50401). A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
