He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Opheim and Selma Opheim (Sween); his wife Shirley Opheim; and his siblings, Laila Wilson, Velma Johnson, Doris Chantland, Orpha Johnson, Marion Helvick, Aggie Berge, Barbara Johnson and Keith Opheim.
He is survived by: his children, Alan Opheim (Joni) of Iowa City, IA and Janice Evans (Richard) of Windsor Heights, IA; his grandchildren, Ashley Opheim of Newton, IA, Britney Opheim of Cedar Falls, IA and Nathan Opheim of Altoona, IA; his brother Wayne Opheim of Bloomington, MN; and his sister-in-law Diane Surfus of Eden Prairie, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
