He was predeceased by: his father Charles Smith; his former spouse Terry Bonner; his mother Marjorie Groven (Kanatas); and his half-brother Charlie Kidd. He is survived by: his former wife Connie Bauer; his wife Mary Hoye of Mason City, IA; his son Thomas Smith of Garner, IA; his stepdaughters, Kacie Krominga of Des Moines, IA and Breana Krominga (Dalton James) of Albert Lea, MN; his grandsons, Xander Smith and Jackson Smith; his stepgranddaughter Fiona James; his stepfather Cecil Groven of Mason City, IA; his sisters, Lois Nelson (Phil Perry) of Northwood, IA, Sherry Dolphin (Jeff) of Britt, IA, Tammy Bain (Mike), Linda Sanders of Rochester, MN, Patty Groven of Manly, IA and Karen Powers of Mason City, IA; and also Mary Hoye. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
