He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Shurtz and Elva Shurtz (Pedrin); his parents-in-law, Clayton Mills (Edna) and Judith Shurtz; and his nephew David Shurtz.
He is survived by: his brother-in-law Bob; his wife Mary E. Shurtz; his children, Eric John (Ann) and Carla Shurtz; his grandchildren, Logan Shurtz, Brent Bagley (Megan), Gregory Shurtz, Jeffery Shurtz, Ana Shurtz, Clayton Shurtz (Cassie) and Maryanna Shurtz; his great grandchildren, Ella Rose, Benjamin Bagley, Colton, Claire and Cora Shurtz; his brothers, Charles Shurtz and Dr. Robert Mills; and his sister-in-law Marjorie Mills. He is also survived by five nephews, one niece and many great nephews and nieces.
