He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Smith and Dorothy Smith (Hines); and his sister Lindell Smith. He is survived by: his son Nick Smith (Sandra); his grandsons, Levi and Alex Smith; his girlfriend Sarah Mapes; his sister Paula Swisher; his nephew Kevin Swisher; and his niece Kimberly Wilson.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (125 E State St, Mason City, IA 50401). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the family.
