With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Virginia Hoop of Marshalltown, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Virginia left this world on March 30, 2025 at the age of 91, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Snyder and Margaret Snyder (Baer); her nephews, Michael Oetker and Doug Freiberg; and her niece Janet Levis.
She is survived by: her husband John Hoop; her daughters, Teresa Coughlin (Jerry) and Shari Clark (Dale); her daughter-in-law Jackie Hoop; her grandchildren, Travis Clark (Cynthia), Jill Moorman (Ray), Emily Clawson (Matt), Elise Hoop, Abby Hoop, Jennifer Fleming and Alex Hoop (Jessica); her brother Paul Snyder; her sons, Johnny and Jeff; her siblings, Lola, Melvin, Chloris Levis, Lucille Freiberg, Kathy Oetker and Ronald; and her siblings-in-law, Kay Snyder, Omer Oetker and Bernard Levis. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Rose Hill Memorial Garden (602 Iowa Ave E, Marshalltown, IA 50158).
A memorial fund being designated to assist with the cost of swimming lessons will be established at the Y in Marshalltown.
