She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Pilkington and Mary Elizabeth Pilkington (Melvin); and her brothers, Tom and Keith Pilkington. She is survived by: her husband Ken Hesmer; her son David Hesmer (Leann); her granddaughter Alix Hesmer; and her siblings, Bruce Pilkington, Will Pilkington (Linda), Sue Beurskens (Robert), Beth Anson (Terry), Terry Pilkington and Kevin Pilkington.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A vigil service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi - St. Henry's Church (221 W Olive St, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A graveside service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Riverside Cemetery (611 N Center St, Marshalltown, IA 50158).
Memorials may be directed in Sarah's name to the Marshall County Animal Rescue League, the Iowa River Hospice House or St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
