He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferdinand L. Kruse and Anna D. Kruse (Vogt); his significant other Dorothy; his siblings, Annona Kruse, Lafeyette Kruse (Edna), Kermit Kruse (Betty) and Raymond Kruse (Marie); his children-in-law, Mark Weaver, Daniel Bilyeu and Pam Goeske Kruse; and his great grandchild Averi (Frost).
He is survived by: his children, Julie Kruse Brewer of Marshalltown and Ken Kruse of Marshalltown; his grandchildren, Matt Brewer (Lindsay) of Centennial, CO, Shannon Juarez (Gus) of Des Moines, Sean Bilyeu of Ankeny, Nate Bilyeu (Brandie) of Monticello, Sara Hohn of Nevada, Chris Kruse (Roxanne) of Mill Creek, WA and Mindy Kruse of Marshalltown; and his great grandchildren, Zachary, Jack, Lindsay, Gavin, Jayden, Logan, Emilee, Isabella, Lilliana, Daniel, Tabitha, Skylar, Bailey, Malachai, Michael, Bradley, Nathaniel, Charlee and Wyatt. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and close friends.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in honor of Rufus.
