He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Brockmeyer and Mae Brockmeyer (Gibbs); his wife Margo; his daughter Lynn Zern; his great grandchild Jaelyn Tate; and his siblings, Evelyn Totman, Beverly Rankin, Betty Kenneally, Jan O'Laughlin and Karen Brockmeyer.

He is survived by: his children, Lorrie Patton (Mike) of Hudson, Iowa, Paul Brockmeyer (Tanya) of Chandler, Arizona, Mary Beth Neff (Scott) of Beaman, Iowa, Tom Brockmeyer (Paula) of Buford, Georgia and Keith Brockmeyer (Sharma) of Spirit Lake, IA; and his grandchildren, Angie Dickinson (Dan), Tim Zern (Kaitlin), Amy Tate (Chad), Alex Patton, Talia Nieman (Theo), Kelcey McCoy (Seth), Ben Neff (Suzanne), Charlie Neff (Alexis), Jonny Neff, Danielle Brockmeyer, Mikayla Brockmeyer (Shujaut Bader) and Kate Brockmeyer. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lost Island Protective Association (LIPA) or Lost Island Ruthven Betterment Association (LIRBA).
