He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl T. Helland and Neoma M. Helland (Rinehart); his wife Harlietta Irene Wood; and his sister Marlys Hoglan. He is survived by: his sons, Brian Dean (Nancy) of Marshalltown and Brad of Bellevue; his grandchildren, Stephanie Himes (Shawn) and Christopher Helland; and his brother David (Jeanette) of Chesterfield, MO..
